The wreath is what a family chooses last and asks about most: what size, which flowers and what to write on the ribbon. There is no single rule — there is tradition and a sense of proportion. Below we set out the types of wreath, how to choose the size and the flowers, what is written on a mourning ribbon and when to order so that the wreath is at the farewell hall in time.

In Latvia an even number of flowers is brought to a funeral — a long-standing tradition kept by Latvian and Russian families alike. Colours are restrained: white, cream and deep red are always appropriate, while bright yellow and multicoloured bouquets do not suit a funeral. At Lutheran funerals the arrangements are usually simpler; at Orthodox funerals fresh flowers are preferred. For a young person or a child, lighter shades are usually chosen.
The inscription is short and plain. The usual wordings are:
The wording of the ribbon is usually agreed when the wreath is ordered — it is worth thinking it through in advance.
It is best to order the wreath as soon as the time of the ceremony is known: an arrangement of fresh flowers is made to order, and in winter or around holidays there is less time. When and where to collect it is agreed at the time of ordering. If you entrust the funeral arrangements to us, the wreath and flowers are agreed along with the rest of the preparations, and the price is fixed before any work begins.
