Bolderaja Cemetery in Riga is one of the most important and historic burial sites in the area, with a history dating back to the late 19th century. Its original establishment was associated with the local Lutheran Church, but over time, the cemetery has become a site for multinational and multicultural burials, reflecting the extensive development and historical changes in Riga.
The cemetery is divided into an old and a new section. The old section is located in the center of the area and is a historical site containing monuments and gravestones documenting the lives and deaths of residents over the course of a century. Some of the monuments feature unique art and illustrate the social and cultural history of the community, including memorials from the early 20th century.

This partially closed necropolis in Riga does not provide free allocation of new burial plots. Only reburials within previously allocated family plots are available.
Free placement of family sub-burials is possible, however, any objects in the plot are usually partially dismantled before burial and then restored. This requires a fee.
The cost of services therefore depends on the amount of work required and the complexity of the conditions for performing the required actions.
This area is designated exclusively for family burials. A second burial is permitted after at least twenty years have passed since the previous burial, and there is no established sanitary period for urn burials.
A second burial in a family grave is only possible after official permission from the cemetery administration on Maza Kleistu Street. Submission of the original death certificate and documents confirming the relationship is required, as well as an application submitted directly on site, along with personal documents, for the second burial.
